What Smash Bros. is to traditional fighting games like Street Fighter, Mario RPGs are the same thing to real RPGs; they technically fit in the same genre but they often appeal to completely different audiences to the point where they became a genre in themselves. I like Mario RPGs as much as the next guy but they didn't perfect squat, least of all turn-based combat. Stop acting like you know what's best for a genre you clearly don't even understand you low attention-span zoomer. Awful video.

The one CRITICAL problem TotK has is that it reuses the same world of BotW. If TotK would have used a different world it would have had a different impact on people. The way it stands now, when I play the game im like: “meh, i cant be bothered to walk over there cause Ive already seen it before” I LOVED BotW but in Totk, when i jumped down from the tutorial sky island, i looked at the HUGE world…… that I already explored…. And I just didnt want to play TotK anymore. I couldnt be bothered to see the same thing again. And, thats where my save file stayed, at the first area you land once you get down drom tutorial island. I WISH they would have made an entirely new world. For the 70 dollar price tag, it DEFENITELY deserved a new world, if JUST because of that.

Here's a reason: the story. While, generally speaking, Tears of the Kingdom is the better game, if you want the full story, you'd want to play Breath of the Wild first. Also, weapon durability has not been fixed in Tears of the Kingdom, as it is still, unfortunately, present. However, it has been improved. Weapon durability is definitely not "almost necessary for the open-world Zeldas to work." The games could definitely work without it.

Both games are generally trash when compared to other open world games

Totk absolutely put Botw to shame... Anyone saying otherwise is absolutely bonkers. I couldn't even go back to playing Botw after a week of playing Totk.

I personally dont like totk because of the requirements you basically have to attatch weapons togather or else you keep dyeing i find totk to be very boring no divine beasts sucks the way to get the master sword is once again tedious but better than botw and i do like the map a bit better but i absolutely hate the tedious gameplay on totk compared to botw were you can really get all the good weapons without having to combine them into so ugly looking sword and sheild wich i hate and the fact that link in this game has the hair that defines look hour they massacred my boy: jokes aside i found totk to be a ok game i still need to finish it completely though i haven't gone through everything but so far the game is extremely boring and the stupid vehicles make me wanna kill every boko in sight but i cant when my weapons is a sword and sheild combo

Bro. Some people "like me" have not been introduced to the Zelda franchise and need to experience the world to even get to understand TOTK! And it's very special to me.

I hate RPGs because of the luck behind the turn based system. You have to take damage, there's no getting around it. But Mario & Luigi's battle system of completely skill-based avoidable attacks is absolutely masterful, and should be the standard for all RPGs.

I grew up with Partners in Time, basically the second game of the series that I could say that it is freaking underrated and even I have to admit that both Dream Team and Paper Jam are absolutely f***ing bangers. Are they generally better than Bowser’s Inside Story? No I don’t think so, are they still good games in general? Hell yeah, these two games are freaking sick. I have not only been there for the gameplay but the story as well and I have to admit, Dream Team and Paper Jam have freaking awesome storytelling. Dream Team gave Luigi a MASSIVE freaking upgrade on his character, basically standing tall and brave just so he could protect Mario alongside him. That honestly makes him stand out no longer as just Mario’s shadow and as someone just as important as Mario. Seeing Luigi be worried or joyful that Mario is safe whenever he is in the Dream world (ESPECIALLY WHEN HE BECOMES A FREAKING GIANT) is absolutely beautiful. And Paper Jam is freaking amazing too! Are there any new original characters in the game like the last two? No, but that doesn’t mean that the game was bad, on the contrary actually! Seeing Mario and Luigi interact with the Paper version of Mario is freaking amazing and wholesome. Luigi even tries to hug Paper Mario even though he is a complete different variation of Mario. The interactions between the three are just so fun to see and the gameplay is just as fun as the older games. The formula hasn’t changed much but it did upgrade it by adding new mechanics, more different attacks, more variation of enemies, keeping the formula just as it is without making it seem stale. The dream attacks are so freaking fun to play with and it makes you use the DS motion controls for some of them and in my opinion, it was actually a lot of fun! And the Paper Attacks were amazing as well, yeah they lasted quite a bit, but the most important part of the attacks was to interact with them, which I believe that both Paper Jam and Dream Team perfected on. (You did not just tell me that you didn’t like the chase sequences, those attacks caught me off my surprise when I first saw them. Those attacks are freaking sick!) It definitely falls onto opinion if you didn’t like one game compared to the other and I respect that, but I’m gonna have to agree to disagree, Bowser’s Inside Story was a lot of fun, but Dream Team and Paper Jam are so freaking good and there is no changing that. Hell, there was a freaking poll letting people rate the games as a whole and every single one got a score above a freaking 6 to 9+, the remakes being the lower contender (for obvious reasons). Those scores are absolutely fantastic for an entire series of (technically) 7 games in total! The Mario & Luigi series is an absolute perfect rendition of an RPG and I don’t think there could be a single RPG that could top Mario & Luigi’s amazing RPG elements, not even freaking pokemon.

I have over 500 hours on Botw around 100 on Totk and I still feel like I have more to do in Botw.

Balance has never mattered in single player RPGs with a lot of options imo. Like if anything overbalanced single player games were a lot more painful and unfun.

Damn, i can say the very same, my fav caracters are the most weaker ones, example i love monks/light magic user *cof* *cof* arthur *cof* *cof* even if is the worst magic, the satisfaction to see that weak caracter became the boss destroyer is the best feeling i had in my life :]

If anything BotW run much better in emulators so you don't have to buy the shit Switch console. I put 25 hours into the original BotW and almost died of boredom. 6 months later I started Master Mode and disabled durability with a mod. And now I kind of like the game. It's a bit like Dark Souls with much worse combat and super weird controls.

Some of these cuts hurt (side note if you ever try XC2 again Chapter 4 is the low point it's all up from there) but I think this is an overall good selection

Bouldergheist has been my favourite mario boss from the entire series since I first fought him. He even used to be my pfp for quite a while. It's hard to explain why he is such a cool character. I guess the perfect blend between a cool and silly boss, and it of course being a ghost that isn't just a boo.

I still think the boss dps cap is overtuned. 1 damage cap for 3 seconds when you break the bosses’ dps basically punishes you for saving you’re non-anti-dps strong weapons for the boss. I’d accept an 80% reduction, but the current cap forces you to stop shooting your good guns to save ammo.

Glad to see someone with a similar opinion, seeing how its seemingly a minority view, or at the very least divisive. I can't play Breath of the Wild for very long without getting bored, it's just lacking in so many things other games do better (enemy variety, interesting side quests, good rewards for exploring, etc.). Even less popular things like weapon durability feel a lot better in Tears because of the fuse system, so getting rewarded with powerful weapon parts makes fighting powerful enemies actually feel purposeful. The abilities give you so much gameplay and player freedom to get creative too compared to BotW that it's insane. The only thing I think Breath of the Wild did better was story, but I honestly think both games sort of fail in that department. Regardless, great video.
